My brain is in overdrive right now. I have far too many ideas swirling in there since Mike and I finished some projects that were monopolizing our writing time. He and I have embarked on an eBook project that will be announced “officially” soon. Meanwhile, I am still striving to finish my lowest-bidder body parts short story (I’m about 1200 words in so far) and I am eager to get back to some of the other unfinished stories, to say nothing of “Undead” or the many blog posts, guest posts, and articles I have in the queue!!
Productivity-be-damned, I often have multiple files open at once, tabbing between them as an idea pops into my head. I know this is not how writing is supposed to work. I am supposed to write one thing at a time. I am supposed to focus on just that one thing — there are dozens of apps that will wipe everything else from your desktop but the one file you have open. I should not be jumping from fiction to technical articles to creative non fiction to haiku.
And yet, I am.
Is it efficient? Hell no. Will it work? I dunno. All I know is that right now, I cannot quiet the rest of my brain while I work on one project at a time. So until my muse sucker-punches those other voices, I’m stuck in this pattern.
SQUIRREL!
