Spurred in part by Friday’s basement shuffle and in part by our decision to replace the chairs in the living room with a love seat, we decided it was time to let go of some of the clutter. Yesterday, I spent a big portion of the day photographing and listing stuff we want to sell off.
I fired up UsedVictoria and prepared to place a bunch of ads when I discovered “sellers lists” — brilliant! In just a few steps, the system will pull together all the ads that are posted with a matching email and password. Discussing it with Mike we decided to simplify it even more by creating a new email address that would forward to both of us so either one could respond to questions.
A few minutes later we had set up thosedewolfes.usedvictoria.com and all we have to do is make sure we update it once a month to hold on to the name. Easy!
After the first few ads were up — my chair which has to go to make room for the loveseat, a pair of shoes that we thought were long-gone (barely worn and don’t fit), and an HDMI switch we never even opened — I dug through our overflowing bin of excess books and media and then started looking for more stuff. I have to admit, it feels good to be sending stuff away. (Now we just need some buyers to connect….)
As I started purging through things, I was reminded of a post I shared on Facebook a while back and I had to go dig it out again: from Zen Habits, Nine Quick Tips to Identify Clutter. I especially like the idea of “spend it out” using up the stuff that’s lingering but there are some other really good tips in there.
