Today’s festive flotsam is all about making candies and chocolates. Some of these I have made and some I have yet to try but they all seem simple.
The first one is my own “last minute candy making” design. Festive Sprinkle Candies were dreamed up out of desperation but now are a regular player in my holiday sweets creations.
I’ve also swapped the colours of the sprinkles or the candy melts for other times of the year (Valentines, birthdays, and Halloween).
They are easy to make and take so few ingredients that once you’ve invested in the candy molds, they are inexpensive, too.
When I was a kid there were two boxes of chocolates we’d look forward to every December: Turtles and After Eights. Neither of these recipes claims to be a copycat, but the pecan-caramel-chocolate clusters are certainly Turtle-like and the chocolate covered mint patties are not as gooey as After Eights but I’ll bet they are just as minty.
