Revisions all around

Finally managed to revise my Haiku Miscellany book — turns out there was a typo in the subtitle inside the book! GAH! — I didn’t catch it with multiple readings and nor did anyone who saw my proof copy. It wasn’t until the person who catalogued my book pointed it out… at which point I nearly put my head through my desk. Sigh.

Support independent publishing: Buy this book on Lulu. All is fixed now and the second edition is ready for shipping. To celebrate, I have slashed the price of the downloadable electronic version (pdf) to just $2.95.

The other revision underway is the update and redesign of the CUPE 951 website. I’m really looking forward to the added flexibility of Drupal 6 but I am very glad we hired extra help for the database upgrade. (I am especially happy that Mike was the successful candidate selected to do the work from those who responded to the RFP.) The new version will have the ability to block content to non-members (critical as we head into contract negotiations) but it also addresses member concerns about the accessibility and usability of the site. We have a busy weekend of tweaking settings (module adjustments and CSS adjustments and so on) before a tentative soft-launch on Monday. Fingers crossed…
