Nine Percent was No Longer Enough

Sometime last month, I found out that our Premier, Gordon Campbell, had an approval rating of nine percent. Nine. Out of one hundred. I've never been a fan of Mr. Campbell, and I've never been terribly quiet about that opinion. So today, when Campbell announced he would be stepping down as soon as a new Liberal Party Leader could be found, I did a happy dance and I wasn't quiet about that, either.

On Facebook, most of my friends are "left leaning" — sure there are some Liberal supporters and Conservatives but most of my friends there are well-mannered enough to just scoff quietly and decline to comment. The rest are happy dancing right beside me. On Twitter, the political stripes of those who follow me (and whom I follow) are a little more varied and someone just suggested not tweeting about political responses at all. Really? I can understand deciding to "take the high road" and not fling mud in 140 characters or fewer but please don't ever suggest I can't do the same — I mean, it's Twitter. It's the same platform on which roughly one in 10 tweets is devoted to discussing Justin Bieber. I think I can share my thoughts, thanks.
