Crafty Give-away

I got crafty today after I did some overdue mending including a pretty rough job of darning a couple of holes in the sleeves of my favourite sweater.

First, I made some goodie-bags for Kiddo’s upcoming birthday party. I really didn’t want to stuff another batch of flimsy plastic bags and with the serger, it’s pretty easy to stitch them together.

Next, I made some mini-Huggitz dolls to put in the goodie bags at Kiddo’s suggestion and with her help to embroider their features; Kiddo also made some keychains.

Finally, I whipped up some shamrock pins — one for me, and one for one of you — since March and St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner!

I’m giving away the square one; I’d like to get it in the mail by Friday March 4th so here’s how you can enter to get it:

  1. write a limerick, haiku or other brief poem (I’ll even accept rhymed couplets) that includes the word “shamrock” (but do try to keep it clean, OK?)
  2. check my Creative Miscellany Zibbet shop and tell me which item(s) you think is my best piece or what you think I should add to the shop (or what I should remove!)
  3. leave both in the comments section below (note that if you’ve never commented before, it will be held for moderation)

If you still have any energy left, share this post with your friends on your social network of choice! Thanks and Good Luck! Winner will be chosen and contacted on March 3!

  1. 1. I happened upon a shamrock
    while sauntering along my block
    I paused to look
    ‘long the fency nook
while my 3 year old ran amock.

Do I still get point for fubbing words? 🙂

    2. My favorites are definitely the finger puppets. One can never go wrong with finger puppets, they rock for the long car rides -now that both kids are old enough to play/tell/make stories together!

  3. There once was a sweet green shamrock ,
Who dreamed of vacation in Bangkok,
    She tried to earn money,
On her back, tush and tummy
And instead ended up in a cell block.

I love your felt pins. They are so cute and sturdy. I have an idea for the community garden one using the logo, actually! I’ll email it to you! You know, in your spare time?

Also though? Your Coffee Haiku books are awesome.

  4. Thanks Ada, you really know how to skirt the PG-13 rating 🙂 Looking forward to your pin idea and many thanks for the feedback.

  5. OK, I’m officially breaking the rules here. Since there were only two entries, you BOTH get a pin. Chair, I’ll mail yours off tomorrow — assuming your mailing address hasn’t changed? — and Ada, I’ll make you one fresh. 🙂

    Thanks for playing!

  6. Oops, I’m late…. but I saw you only had two entries so thought I’d give it a go… gotta support a local blogger! Anyway, I started out simple…

    Roses are red,
    shamrocks are green,
    this is my poem
    for Victriviaqueen.

    Then I tried a haiku…

    Spring paints our trees pink,
    rest of the country shamrock
    green with jealousy.

    and a limerick…

    There’s a giveaway on a blog that I’ve seen,
    it’s made by Victriviaqueen.
    A cute shamrock pin
    is what I could win,
and I’d wear it on March seventeen.

That was fun, thanks for the challenge! 🙂

    • Wow! those are great! I’ll send you an email to grab your mailing address and get your pin in the mail shortly! Many thanks. (… and now I’m off to check your blog…)
