On Wednesday, I woke up with what I thought was a stye on my right eye; the eye was tender and swollen but I could still manage. It didn’t get better through the week and today my eye was almost swollen shut completely plus the rest of the right side of my face looked bloated.
Naturally, we had scheduled the yard sale for today so I was up at 6 am hauling the last of the crap out to the driveway. Even though we were supposed to run til 1:00 it was painfully slow — odd bursts of activity with just a few small sales — so at noon we started stowing things and by 12:45 I was at the clinic.
Typical for a Saturday, the walk-in clinic was busy (despite an empty parking lot) so it was about a half-hour before the doctor could see me. Some questions, bright lights, look up, look down, and pressing (does it hurt here?) and he explained it is not a stye but looked like a blocked Meibomian gland. Hot compresses and, thanks to the state of the inflammation, antibiotics were prescribed.
I’ve had loads of antibiotics over the years and am used to taking them with food but these ones suck much more; I have to take them 4x a day on an empty stomach. That includes breakfast so it’s going to be very challenging to get through the next week — a week that includes a whole bunch of un-skippable meetings, naturally!
Wish me luck.
p.s. No, I am not posting a photo. Trust me, it’s icky.
p.p.s. Kiddo is going to run the sale with what’s left tomorrow: deal is, she gets to keep the cash.
I don’t think my stomach would be empty 4 times a day. Tell Kiddo I hope she cleans up.
I’ll let her know.
As to the empty stomach, I’m trying to work out the schedule — 1 hour before eating or two hours after — mornings will be the toughest.
