Festive Preparation

I took a break from the computer today — I’ve been juggling a bunch of projects of late, but one large one in particular has kept me working well into the wee-hours the last few nights. Happily, we passed the first hurdle on that one today (I think) so I felt like it was OK to get into gift-wrapping and to finish off the decorations in the basement.

I think I’ve now put up all the decorations I’m going to down there this year. In addition to the snowflakes on the ceiling, I’ve hung all of our collectible ornaments along the central beam.

Because of the size of our tree, a lot of these haven’t been out of their boxes for quite some time!

Perhaps the most fun part of the day was giftwrapping — I wrapped a LOT of gifts today and I decided this year to actually do the whole curled-ribbon thing. I also used a “code” for the giftwrap — one colour for our gifts to each other, another for gifts to Mike’s family, and so on. The good part of having everything out on the table at once meant I was able to quickly see where there were gaps (oops! forgot some stocking stuffers!) so Kiddo and I can take care of that tomorrow.

In addition to that I got to finish off some crafting — I made a Christmasy quasi-quilted hanging for the basement door out of a scrap of fabric that had been lingering in my stash for far too long (above) and I made some gifts, including a set of fabric napkins (napkin rings still to come; below, along with a very nifty gold lame covered “take away” box to hold them)
