I’ve missed a few days, but I am going to try to dig out something festive every day for the rest of the month — whether it is an ebook, a video, a game, music, a craft, or something else — one bit of flotsam a day. Sort of my digital advent calendar, although I plan to do post-Christmas, too, right through to New Year’s Eve. I’m tagging them all “festiveflotsam” so you can find and revisit them all.
So…. here’s December 1-5:
Dec. 1: Mr. Pickwick’s Christmas
Charles Laughton offers this one-man reading of the Christmas chapter from “The Pickwick Papers” — Dickens wrote a lot of Christmas stories, including chapters in most of his serial novels.

Dec. 2: Stinky Santa
Told in rhymed verse by Otto Fishblanket (aka Gerald Hawkesly), this short illustrated ebook will resonate with “kids of a certain age” for all its stinky references — and it might even convince them to take a bath! Currently free in the Kindle store (but regular price is under $2).
Dec. 3: LEGO Christmas Ornaments
Downloadable patterns for a whole bunch of LEGO ornaments. Great for family building fun and, unless you glue them together, they don’t have to take up space in your Christmas storage…
Dec. 4: North Pole Slide
Addictive little online game, just like all the other pattern matching games… but festive! Play North Pole Slide at GameGame.
Dec. 5: A Jetson’s Christmas Carol
This fairly awful adaptation of Dickens’ famous tale, was first aired in 1985. I love the Jetsons but this is as cheezy as 80s cartoons could get.
