Week two of NaNoWriMo didn’t get me very far ahead. As writing goes, I had one “good” day and a bunch of “almost enough” days but I still wrote every day. My current word count is just below the halfway mark at 23,585 for the month of November. Added to my existing word count my manuscript is already at 47,942! And man, do I need to write these characters out of the mess they are in. I actually think I am going to have to write another 30k words and edit out a big chunk of what I wrote this week. Oh well.
As much as I spent the first week furiously writing and focused on making my minimum word count, this week I told myself “anything over a thousand is good.” Most days I did around 1200-1300, which is shy of the 1667 needed to do 50k in 30 days, but I wrote what I could and didn’t beat myself up. I also made sure I got up and did stuff instead of just sit in front of the screen.
I was off work Weds-Fri, making for a super short work week but I also got out of the house almost every day, including a fair bit of walking: around the grounds of Government House (and I returned on Saturday for a tour of the inside), into and around town, and down to Fairfield Plaza and back.
I had to go back to Fairfield Plaza today but, since it was clear, I took my bike. What takes me 25 min to walk each way was a 5 minute zip down the hill and about 15 minutes up (I still had to walk the bike up the steep part).
I also had a Shamanic healing session this morning that went very well (I think), and treated myself to some sushi this afternoon while I was out. All in all it’s been a really good week. Now to tuck into some writing and see if I can break the 25k mark tonight.
