Getting to the Finish Line

It’s been a while since I updated and I wish I could say I had done a lot of stuff in that time… I haven’t. I have puttered — some constructively (cleaning out a closet, doing laundry, writing articles that will eventually find a home somewhere, gardening), some not-so-constructive but still valuable (spending time with Kiddo and Hubby, reading, writing stuff that may never see the light of day), and some neither constructive nor particularly valuable (hours of Netflix, Tumblr, and Facebook…)

Work has been busy, so I have been pretty flattened by the time I get home, but still… things should get done at least once in a while.

Today turned out to be a gett-stuff-done day. It started early, buying tickets to the Great Canadian Beer Festival (in September) then I got bills paid, laundry done, other tidying done and it was off to the Moss St. Paint-in. We came back tired (it’s a lot of walking on a warm day!) but inspired… though I started with a nap.

After my nap, I awoke to find Kiddo making little tiny Doctor Who figures out of Sculpey and Shawn working on the armature for a triceratops head.

Meanwhile I had gone to sleep with an idea in my head and awoke knowing just how to carry it out. I gathered some scrap wood (leftover from the deck project) and rifled through the junk bin for some drawer and closet handles and some swag hooks, found some paint and went to work.

In a little over an hour, I had finished and mounted on my wall a new necklace rack. Now I can make some more necklaces without worrying about where to put them.

Plus, I was reminded of what it feels like to get to the finish line. I need to do that more.

(Yes, I am overdue for another writing newsletter… maybe that should be the next finish line I aim to cross…)
