Low-key Valentine’s Day

Ever since we’ve been together, Mike and I have weathered some pretty weird wrenches thrown into our Valentine’s day celebrations — everything from food poisoning/flu to financial emergencies to babysitting a parent following surgery to the death of a close friend — so a couple of years ago we decided to call it quits on planning anything for February 14th. This year, I got the food poisoning out of the way on Tuesday night (and will likely never eat tabbouleh again).

After wandering around and considering several options we ended up at Yokohama Japanese Restaurant where we ordered the “Love Boat for Two” plus a couple of other rolls on the side.

We may or may not have made googly-eyes at each other.

Saw the doctor (good news — both blood pressure and weight have dropped in the past month. Hurrah!) then home for dinner; Mike outdid himself as usual serving up ample vegetables, meat and seafood plus bread and cubes of polenta for dipping in the rich cheesy sauce.

Since Kiddo has a Pro-D day tomorrow, we let her stay up and the three of us hung out watching Thursday night sit-coms.

Thank you, universe, for letting us have a low-key Valentine’s Day.
