My birthday is still a few months off but I have asked Mike for a tattoo. I’ve been pondering this for a very long time — and in particular this design. After I broke my ankle I thought it would be a good idea to get a tattoo that read like a rubber stamp of FRAGILE (or “fra-GEE-lay” if you are a fan of A Christmas Story).
Gradually that morphed into the idea of getting the icon for “fragile” — a cracked wine glass — on that leg. That idea has sat in my head for about five years now and I think I am finally ready to get that done on my right leg but further away from the ankle — you know, where there’s some fatty flesh and not just bone 😉 I also think that the Fragile reminder is not just for my body but my mind, too.
So… will I chicken out? I dunno. I think I am ready for it now. I think I can cope. If not, I will have to come up with a better story than Phoebe…
So… can someone recommend a good tattoo artist who won’t mind doing something simple for a somewhat chicken middle-aged woman? There was a great long thread on the Victoria subReddit about tattoo artists recently but I think it was more about doing complex original artwork than basically recreating a shipping label.

I highly recommend Zara Leaf, at her own studio, Fly the Cage, in Fernwood. Check out her FB gallery. She’s a visual artist (painter) as well as a tattoo artist and has a very calm, serious demeanour. I’m going to go to her for memorial tattooing for my Granny and father.
